Cleaning a Windows PC Before Selling: What Wise Care 365 Cannot Do

Quick answer: A privacy cleaner alone does not guarantee secure removal of personal data before resale. Back up files, sign out of accounts and use Windows Reset with the appropriate drive cleaning option.

Before you begin

Write down the current Windows build and preserve files you cannot replace. Use the built-in tools first when they solve the problem. Any registry or account operation requires an appropriate backup and a clear recovery plan.

Step-by-step approach

  1. Back up personal files to a destination that you can open on another computer.
  2. Sign out of Microsoft, browser and app accounts and deauthorize licensed software where required.
  3. Use Windows Reset this PC with an appropriate data removal option, following Microsoft guidance for selling or recycling.
  4. Verify setup starts without your old account and securely retain any recovery keys or external media.

How to verify the outcome

Compare actual available disk space and application behavior. Check startup, browsers, work files and Windows Update after changes; revert if anything unexpected happens.

Limitations and safety

Cleanup cannot repair failing storage hardware or guarantee increased FPS. Secure deletion and registry modifications may be irreversible, particularly on SSDs. Do not treat a scan score as a benchmark.
