How to Measure Actual Results of a PC Cleanup

Quick answer: Measure free disk space, startup time and repeatable workload results before and after cleanup. Do not interpret registry item counts or a cleaner score as evidence of faster hardware.

Before you begin

Write down the current Windows build and preserve files you cannot replace. Use the built-in tools first when they solve the problem. Any registry or account operation requires an appropriate backup and a clear recovery plan.

Step-by-step approach

  1. Write down available disk space and free memory after a reboot.
  2. Record baseline startup and repeatable application launch times.
  3. Apply a single conservative cleanup category and restart if required.
  4. Repeat measurements under similar conditions and keep only changes with clear benefits.

How to verify the outcome

Compare actual available disk space and application behavior. Check startup, browsers, work files and Windows Update after changes; revert if anything unexpected happens.

Limitations and safety

Cleanup cannot repair failing storage hardware or guarantee increased FPS. Secure deletion and registry modifications may be irreversible, particularly on SSDs. Do not treat a scan score as a benchmark.
